The Power of Prayer
Prayer should be an automatic activity in the life of every Christian. However prayer must be learned. Jesus taught His disciples how to pray (Luke 11:1). Prayer and the Word of God is also the two most powerful spiritual weapons to use against Satan.
Don't be afraid to ask the Lord to give you a praying spirit. As Christians, we should have a continuous desire to increase our prayer life. If we don't have a desire to pray, our prayer life and spiritual life will die. Our spiritual effectiveness will also die.
It is also a good idea to set a time for prayer. Experience has proved that having no set time to pray equals having no time at all. If we do not set a time for prayer, we are guaranteed that much time will pass without any prayer being offered.
We can measure our relationship with the Lord by our prayer life. Remember, sinning stops us from praying, and praying stops us from sinning. God promises to hear and answer our prayers as we saturate our hearts with His promises and pray with confidence.
Lastly, God promises to hear and answer our prayers. However, disobedience, secret sins, and an unforgiving spirit hinders God from answering our prayers. Psalm 37:4 says, "Delight thyself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of thine heart."
